Resilience

Extreme weather events are increasingly more costly and more dangerous to human life and critical infrastructure. Extreme weather events are more costly in terms of impact to infrastructure, and are increasingly dangerous to human life and livelihoods. This trend is projected to dramatically increase over the coming decades. Engineering resilience is, therefore, a fundamental key to ensuring safe and strong cities and communities. Education across a spectrum of audiences is crucial for long-term resilience.

Why

Resilience?

Considering the vast array of safety threats that extreme weather events pose around the world, a holistic approach to engineering resilience must include education and outreach. From policymakers to educators to engineers, UL’s Education and Outreach team leverages UL’s rigorous scientific research and unmatched engineering expertise, along with worldwide partnerships, to create innovative (and locally specific) programs.
