On October 16th-18th, 2018, fire safety education leaders from across Europe convened at the Fire Safety Education Summit at Disneyland Paris to discuss the future of training, education and advocacy for fire safety among the youth population. The summit was the result of collaboration among UL, Disneyland Paris and Fédération Nationale des Sapeurs-Pompiers de France (FNSPF) as part of the Disney Wild About Safety – Safety Smart® program.
The program delivers fire safety education to directly to young children. To date, more than 100 fire chiefs have educated over 10,000 students in France through in-person classroom lessons and activities. Fire Safety Education Summit attendees leaders from 10 countries gained valuable insight on educating the youth population in their local communities and shared their own best practices for fire education programs. In total, the French program is projected to educate 1,500,000 children at more than 52,000 schools over the next three years.
