Timon and Pumbaa from Disney’s The Lion King are Wild About Safety®. With their Safety Smart® Checklist in hand, the two friends inspect a possible new home to make sure it is a safe place to live. Their investigation turns up plenty of safety problems, and in the end, Timon and Pumbaa decide there’s no place better than the home they’re in now. This is a hands-on experiment about sun safety using simple materials to demonstrate how sunscreen protects students from the sun. This can be used in the classroom or in an afterschool setting.

A challenge for students to design and market a personal transportation device inspired by the hoverboard. Students are asked to draw and describe their device of the future and post to the site. The challenge can be used as a summative assessment of the PEP module and/or as an opportunity for students to communicate content understandings through creative design.
